A review of bioactive materials and chronic wounds. Cutis. 2010 May;85(5):259-66 Authors: Plotner AN, Mostow EN An increasing number of bioactive materials are indicated for the treatment of chronic lower extremity ulcers. They are promising adjuncts to standard therapy. When used in conjunction with standard therapy for venous leg ulcers and diabetic foot ulcers, bioactive materials may increase the likelihood and rate of healing. This review compares commonly available bioactive materials indicated for chronic wound healing and provides an overview of the relevant Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) and Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) codes for these products.
